CASA volunteers advocate for children, developing a relationship with them through outings, quality time, and most importantly, listening.


This commitment enables our advocates to interact with all professionals involved in the child’s case and make recommendations directly to the court, ensuring the child’s best interests are heard. Unlike social workers, therapists, and attorneys who juggle large caseloads, CASAs work with one child at a time and can quickly become a critically important person in the child’s life.

Steps

to become a casa

  • 1.Submit an application

    Complete our online volunteer application to begin the process of becoming a CASA.

  • 2. Participate in an interview

    Meet with our CASA team to learn more about your interest in volunteering and ask any questions you may have.

  • 3. Complete all background checks

    Complete the required background checks and screenings as part of the volunteer approval process.

  • 4. Complete the necessary training

    Complete your required CASA training to prepare you to advocate for a child in foster care.

  • 5. Get sworn in

    Once your training and requirements are complete, you will be officially sworn in as a CASA volunteer.

  • 6. Be matched with a CASA child

There is no "perfect" CASA volunteer. Whether you're employed full time, retired, a student, or a stay at home parent, what matters most is your commitment to making a difference. We provide the training, resources, and ongoing support. You bring your compassion and dedication.

The Role of a CASA Volunteer

As a CASA volunteer, you will:

  • Conduct an independent investigation by gathering information about the child's circumstances.
  • Build relationships with the child and the professionals involved in their case.
  • Monitor the child's well being and ensure court orders are being followed.
  • Submit objective recommendations and reports to the court.
  • Be a consistent, caring adult and advocate throughout the child's journey.
